If the tool stopped working, could your people still do the work?

AI can help your team achieve more. But as work changes, so can the knowledge, skills and capacity to deliver without it.

I work with organisations to understand where that reliance has developed, what people can still do independently, and what needs to be strengthened. We start with the work itself—and the people responsible for delivering it.

Understanding the work behind the tools

The work moves on.
What capability stays?

A task is automated. The time saved fills with other work. Staff introduce their own tools, suppliers add new features, and expectations change around what the team can deliver.

Over time, the ability to explain, check or carry out that task independently can become less certain. A documented fallback only helps if people have the knowledge, access and time to use it.

  1. Understand the reliance

Follow an important activity with the people who deliver it. Identify where AI supports the work, where judgement sits and what has changed in roles, workloads and expectations.

  2. Examine retained capability

Explore what the team could do if the tool were unavailable or its output could not be trusted. Use agreed scenarios or safe practical exercises to examine knowledge, access, checking and realistic delivery capacity.

  3. Strengthen what matters

Agree proportionate changes: knowledge sharing, opportunities to practise essential skills, clearer review responsibilities, escalation authority and workable expectations of what people can deliver.

A clearer basis for action.

Within the agreed scope, you leave with a picture of the dependencies examined, the capability gaps identified and priorities for action—with named responsibilities and practical ways to check progress.
